Temu App: Is It Legit, Scam Concerns & How To Download? End-shutdown

Following a further marketing push starting in 2023, the Temu app started to pick up a solid momentum which led to many buyers wanting to give it a try. However, as new markets start to make their way into the mainstream, there is usually a fair amount of skepticism towards them.

While it’s always a good impulse to be cautious when putting sensitive information into any app, here’s everything you need to know about Temu, and whether you really need to be careful.

What is Temu?

Temu is an Amazon-like online shopping app that claims to host the best deals you can find online. With over 250 different categories to choose from, it works like an all-encompassing shopping app, as opposed to one for specific interests. However, Temu claims to be unique in having lower prices than those found at other online sellers. While that’s not always the case with non-discount items, items that are sold at full price are sold for, at a minimum, similar, if not the same, prices as sites like Amazon, Target, or Walmart.

However, frequent sales and multi-week deals are common on the app, which means it’s worth checking it out first before you buy anything online to see if you can get what you’re looking for a bit cheaper. Keep in mind, though, that not all major brands are selling in Temu yet, as it’s still an up-and-coming market. However, there are still many big brands already selling there.

Is the Temu app legit?

As mentioned above, there has been a fair amount of skepticism directed at Temu, which is completely natural. Anytime an app handles sensitive information like your credit card numbers and home address, it’s good to have some concern. However, concerns about Temu’s legitimacy are easily allayed. Although it is new, the application is backed by PDD Holdings Inc.a multi-billion dollar company that has many years of experience in global trade.

In terms of other forms of verified legitimacy, Temu supports various forms of secure payment methods, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and most major credit cards. Temu seems to be as legit as all the other major online retailers.

Is Temu a scam?

In short, no, Temu is not a scam. It’s a perfectly legitimate online shopping marketplace that has met with skepticism from the public, as all new online retailers do.

There appears to be an additional amount of unfounded fear towards the company, as the other major company owned by Temu’s parent company, PDD Holdings Inc., is Pinduoduo: a China-based agricultural company. However, there is plenty of evidence that both PDD Holdings Inc. and Pinduoduo are legitimate companies and there is nothing to suspect.

According to a Temu representative who reached out to Digital Trends, “PDD Holdings Inc. owns and operates a portfolio of businesses globally, including Temu in the US and Canada and Pinduoduo, the social trading app in China. Pinduoduo is Temu’s sister company.”
