Hogwarts Legacy: The Best Tips, Secrets & Guides for Your Magical Adventure

Published

on

The Hogwarts legacy is finally here on PS4 and Xbox One, and it’s time to dive into the magical world. There’s a lot to explore in Hogwarts Legacy, and there are plenty of secrets hidden within the castle and beyond. If you are just starting to play the game, there are plenty of resources to help you make the most of your magical adventure.

Our extensive Hogwarts Legacy wiki guide has walkthroughs, locations, and beginner tips on just about everything. To help guide you through, we’ve put together the best tips, guides, and secrets you need to know.

Choose the right Hogwarts house

This may seem like a no-brainer for fans of the Harry Potter series who have known their Hogwarts for years, but the house you choose can affect the game’s storyline. Each house is obviously associated with a different stat, but they also have access to a common room and additional dialogue options with the characters in your house.

The main difference between the houses in the game is that each has its own quest leading to a meeting with Richard Jackdaw. Check out our guide to choosing a Hogwarts home for more information.

Attend your first classes before studying

The map in Hogwarts Legacy is huge. Even simply exploring Hogwarts Castle can seem like a never-ending activity. Because of this, it can be incredibly easy to get distracted very early. Since completing the main story quests is directly related to learning spells and unlocking additional areas, it’s best to complete the storyline before leaving.

Give preference to a broom

While there is no Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy, that doesn’t mean there isn’t broomstick flying. There is nothing more pleasant than rushing around Hogwarts on an enchanted broomstick. However, unfortunately, you can’t start the game right away with a broom. You will need to complete the Riding Lesson quest to learn the basics before you can buy your own broom.

You can check out our guide on how to get a broom in Hogwarts Legacy and check out our tips for completing broom trials for upgrades.

Use interactive maps

One of the coolest things about Hogwarts Legacy is how big the map is. You can spend a whole day wandering around Hogwarts Castle and still find something you missed before. It also means that keeping track of where everything is is essential to the game. With many collectible-based quests in the game, it’s extremely useful to have a map that tells you where all the various items are located on the map.

To do this, you can use the interactive map of the world “Hogwarts Legacy” from IGN or, more precisely, a map of Hogwarts castle.

Increase your equipment inventory slots

When you first start the game, you will have 20 equipment slots. While this is fine for a while, as you explore, you’ll find that 20 gear slots isn’t enough. Around Hogwarts, and even underwater, lies a seemingly endless supply of equipment. And, unfortunately, once your gear slots are full, you will need to remove items or sell them before you can collect more.

Because of this, we recommend taking a look at our guide to increasing gear inventory slots. You can do this by finding and completing Trials of Merlin on the map.

Unlock the best talents first

Once you start getting comfortable with combat in Legacy of Hogwarts, combat becomes a lot easier. One of the best ways to improve your combat prowess (and make it a little more personal) is to take advantage of the various talents and abilities available.

We recommend taking a look at our guide to the best talents to unlock in each of the 5 categories. Whether it’s additional spell sets or higher spell damage, it’s worth considering the talents that will help your playstyle the most.

Maximum use of the Alohamora spell

Although there are quite a few secrets hidden in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, you will notice quite early on that there are also many locked doors here. In order to get the Alohamora spell and start opening locks, you will need to complete the Watcher’s Lunar Lament quest. To do this, you need to find the 9 Moons of Demimasca in Hogwarts Castle.

The first iteration of Alohamora will let you unlock level 1 locks, and you’ll need to find even more Demigiz statues to advance to level 2 and 3. With the spell maxed out, you’ll be able to open any locked door you come across and the secrets within.

Find all three secrets of Hogwarts

Hogwarts has a lot of hard-to-find Field Manual pages, but these aren’t necessarily secrets. There are actually 3 secrets behind the puzzles in Hogwarts Castle that you can find and solve.

Take a look at our guide to all the secrets and solutions of Hogwarts to make sure you can find them yourself.
